The applicants face UK visa application rejections numerous times due to scrutinized processes. Even in the past, the UK government had declined thousands of bulk proposals as people committed some errors in the application that needed to be submitted properly.

Earlier, approving a UK visa was more challenging as everything was conducted offline. However, that’s not the case today.

The visa application form can be filled out online at the UK Gov website. Therefore, it’s a golden opportunity for aspirants looking for work in the UK. They can take help and eliminate all the mistakes during application.

So, let’s understand the topic and what mistakes you should avoid when applying for a UK work visa.

10 Common Mistakes To Avoid When Applying For A UK Work Visa

If you are hired in the United Kingdom, and an employer is sponsoring you, you should start with the UK visa process before 90 days of the joining date. After communicating with your prospective employer, you must know the detailed application process. However, we often forget to discuss possible mistakes that can be made.

So, here are a few mistakes that most people make and end up getting their visa requests rejected.

1. Providing misleading information: Most people answer with inconsistencies that don’t match the document details and, thus, create suspicion in the minds of the interviewer. As a result, they canceled the visa application. Therefore, while answering the UK visa interview questions, ensure that you provide accurate information.

The UK tier 2 visa applicants pay extra attention to this tip. Ensure that you provide all the crucial information regarding your previous employer, employment, and funds. Additionally, it is a general requirement to give the police certificate indicating that your criminal record is clean. So speak the truth even if you have some history.

2. Applying before having a sponsor: Most people apply for a UK visa thinking they will find a job after reaching there. However, that’s different from how England’s visa application functions. Finding a job and employer willing to sponsor you and provide employment in the United Kingdom is mandatory. So, get your homework done, find a suitable job and a sponsor, ask for a Certificate of Sponsorship, and then apply for the visa.

Additionally, you must present the other details, i.e., the salary offered per year. To do so, always provide relevant sources such as CoS. The officials need these details to ensure that you are paid well.

For example, suppose the basic salary for a job role you are offered is 30,000 Euros per year, whereas you only get 15,000 Euros.

3. Submitting documents in paper format: The UK visa approach is altered today. The application process is conducted electronically. So, make sure not to make the mistake of paper document submissions.

4. Don’t be overconfident: Many people have the misconception that the immigration process to the UK is simple. You might need to pay attention to some complexities in your application that are often avoided due to overconfidence. As a result, you would have to wait longer, and the outcome of your application might not be favorable.

Therefore, address the issues in your application and remember all the essential guidelines, even if you think you know it all.

Don’t only rely on the internet for information, as it might lead to errors. So, it is wise to contact professionals.

5. Having insufficient funds: The finances required to stay in the United Kingdom are relatively higher than in most countries. Thus, you can only survive in the UK with sufficient funds.

Most people need more funds in their bank accounts. However, when the officials cross-check financial information, they immediately discard your application. So, first, furnish your financial circumstances and then apply for a UK visa application.

6. Lack of Financial evidence: Having enough funds but no supporting evidence also leads to visa rejection. Applicants must produce a supporting document proving their money in their bank accounts. Borrowed money without legal processing is considered fraud income.

7. Only complete documentation: People often commit errors and produce incomplete documentation in haste to get an England work visa. For example, having a passport, CoS, financial proof, address proof, etc., but forgetting the evidence of accommodation. Providing incomplete documents is a significant reason for UK visa rejection.

8. Lengthy and vague itinerary: When you present the lengthy itinerary plans, it reflects that you are planning to stay in the land of England longer than the visa’s validity.

Additionally, don’t make vague itinerary plans. The candidate must be able to state where they will stay if they seek employment in the UK.

Pro tip: Inform the Embassy about your daily activities details through the cover letter to speed up the visa process.

9. Not attending the interview or biometrics: Most people think they can miss the interview and reschedule it. It’s untrue. Applicants must visit the interview or biometrics on the scheduled day. Failing to do so will straightforwardly lead to your visa rejection. Additionally, it feeds into your visa application record, which might need to prove better in the future.

10. Arriving late at the Embassy for the interview: Candidates should reach the Embassy a few minutes before the scheduled time. Therefore, they must plan the time accordingly. Officers will not cater to your excuses for arriving late for the interview. It will only give a wrong impression of your irresponsible behaviour. Therefore, avoid even the slightest mistake in getting your work visa rejected.

So, these were some common mistakes people make in the UK work visa application process. You can learn from such candidates’ mistakes and save yourself from getting your visa rejected.

Seek Professional Help

It is no secret that the UK Embassy receives thousands of visa applications worldwide each year, especially for work purposes. So, it would help if you were thoroughly prepared with evidence, documents, and funds to get your visa approved. You can also seek professional help that can help you understand the UK visa process guidelines. It will help you to avoid any mistakes during your application.

Introduction

It is not a mystery that the UK is desirable to live and work in. With its rich history, diverse culture, and abundance of opportunity, it is no wonder that so many people worldwide want to make the UK their home.

Do you want to know how long you can stay in the UK with an England work visa?

Though, the answer is not as straightforward as one might hope. It relies on a few factors, including your country of origin and the type of work you’ll be doing.

This blog will explore how long you can expect to stay in the UK with a work visa.

Read on!

How Long Might I Live In The UK With A Work Visa?

As we all know there are several visa types. The type of UK work visa you obtain will largely determine how long you can live in the UK.

For instance, the UK Tier 2 visa – typically obtained by skilled workers outside the European Economic Area – allows its holder to live in the UK for a maximum of 5 years. After that, they must either apply for an extension or leave the country.

Other types of work visas have different time limits. For instance, the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme visa – obtained by young adults aged 18-30 from certain countries – allows its holder to live in the UK for up to two years.

The Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa allows its holder to stay in the UK for three years, with the possibility to extend their stay for an additional two years.

However, it should be remembered that the time limits detailed above are not set in stone. In certain circumstances, obtaining an extension to your work visa or even applying for permanent residency may be possible.

Ultimately, the answer to the question of how long you can stay in the UK with a work visa depends on some factors, including your visa type and circumstances.

In the past years, around 6 million people have migrated to the UK. The primary reason for people’s fascination with the UK is better lifestyle and employment opportunities.

However, it is not that simple to get a UK to work visa. There are certain criteria that need to be met. One such is proficiency in the English Language. While applying for a UK visa, you need to submit a document reflecting your English Language.

Is It Possible To Get A UK Work Visa Without IELTS?

Contrary to popular misconception, you do not need to take the IELTS exam in order to apply for a work visa in the UK. Well, in short, if you are not from an English speaking country, you need to give the IELTS exam to qualify for a UK work visa.

The IELTS for UKVI (General) with a minimum score of 4 bands in all four modules or the UK NARIC report for Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees must both satisfy the English language requirements for the visa.

However, if you are applying for a UK visa from India, it is critical that you have a score of 4.0 on the IELTS test.

To sum up, you can get a UK work visa without the IELTS if you belong to an English-speaking country.

For applicants belonging to the rest of the countries, you need to qualify or have a minimum score of 4.0 in the IELTS to get a UK work visa

Clearing The IELTS Exam

Many people hesitate to appear for the IELTS test since it is considered a difficult exam. In contrast, it is a fairly simple exam provided you study properly and efficiently.

The IELTS exam checks your overall knowledge of English. This exam consists of listening, reading, writing and speaking exams. You can easily clear these exams with proper knowledge and study. This test is rated on a scale of 1 to 9. The minimum IELTS score for a UK work visa is 4.

What If I Have Cleared The IELTS Exam?

students preparing for exams

Clearing the IELTS exam will not only be beneficial for you to get a UK work visa, but also for other purposes. Clearing this exam will open a gateway for entering developed nations where English is their first language. The IELTS test is the only one that is recognised as a requirement for permanent residency by more governments than any other English language test. The governments of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand recognise IELTS results. Depending on your visa’s requirements, an IELTS score may be required.

Not just for visa purposes, but clearing the IELTS exam will also assist you in your professional life. IELTS scores are accepted by many professional registration bodies, including those in engineering, accounting, law, nursing, medicine, pharmacy, and many countries’ teaching bodies.

This indicates that you might need to take the exam to become professionally registered in an English-speaking country after completing your studies. If you decide to take IELTS as your entrance exam for a university, you will be accustomed to its format when you retake it for professional registration.

Is IELTS Mandatory For Tier 2 Visa?

IELTS, also known as the International English Language Testing System, is an approved language test by the UK Government. If you wish to immigrate to the UK for work or study purposes, you must clear this English test to be eligible to obtain the visa. Immigrants must demonstrate their proficiency in English when applying under Tiers 1 or 2 work visas. IELTS is a recognised English language assessment that can offer this proof.

Without IELTS, you will not be eligible to apply for a Tier 2 visa.

What Are The Requirements Of A UK Work Visa?

Anyone interested in working in the UK can apply for a UK Tier 2 General visa. Employees of foreign nationals travelling to the UK to fill a job opening that cannot be filled by a British citizen must apply for UK Tier 2 work permits.

A verified certificate of sponsorship from an authorised UK employer is required for the applicant. In most situations, the employer can obtain a work permit before offering the position to a foreign national if they can show that they advertised the position locally but were unable to find an EEA citizen to fill it.

Again, the employer must demonstrate that the company is real and that the position under consideration is actually needed. Additionally, they must acquire a sponsorship licence. The applicant employee, on the other hand, needs to be qualified and skilled enough for the position.

Few of the requirements to apply for a UK work visa are: having a valid job offer, having skills and certifications related to your job role, and clearing the IELTS exam. If you meet these requirements, you will be able to obtain a UK work visa.

Cost Of IELTS Exam Registration

Now that we know how to clear the IELTS, let us understand more about the cost involved while appearing for the IELTS from India. The fees for the IELTS examination vary from country to country. However, while applying for IELTS from India, you will have to pay INR 15,750 for a UK visa. To take this test, you need to be above 16 years.

Since applying for a UK work permit is quite expensive, it is important that you submit your application without any errors. And it is also critical that you have a proper understanding of the visa application procedure.

However, don’t worry if you don’t have complete information about the visa application. There are various UK visa agencies to help you out. This will ensure that you receive your visa application without any rejections.

Moving to another country is a big decision. It is a time consuming procedure and needs to be carried out with precision. A single mistake can lead to the rejection of your visa application.

Thus it is important that you choose the right immigration Consultancy for your UK visa. Immigration consultancies will help you choose the right immigration program with their in-depth knowledge.

However, just like any industry, there are some fraudulent when it comes to various immigration consultancies.

This article will provide you with a guide on what things you to consider before choosing an immigration consultancy.

Top Tips For Choosing The Right Immigration Consultancy

Tip 1 – Choose A Regulated Immigration Consultant

While immigrating to the UK, make sure that you work with a Regulated Immigration Consultancy who will guide you throughout your visa path. Furthermore, it is advisable to work with a registered company rather than a freelancer. This will improve the prospects of you receiving your uk visa.

By choosing a freelancer team, you will be putting your dream of going to the UK in jeopardy as there is an increased risk of fraud.

Tip 2 – Do Not Seal A Deal That Is Too Good To Be True

While choosing an immigration consultancy, make sure that you do not fall prey to offers that are too good to be true. Some consultancies offer their services at a cheaper price in the beginning to lure their clients. However, they increase these prices later on.

So make sure that you do not choose any consultancy that is offering you their services for a price way cheaper than other consultancies in the market.

Make sure that you provide legitimate information for your visa. If you find yourself motivated to lie by your immigration consultancy, you should quit working with them. This could get you in trouble later on as your application can get rejected, and you may have to reapply.

Also, ensure that your original documents are not kept by any immigration consultancy. No ethical immigration consultancy will ask you to keep your confidential documents with them. This can later get you in trouble as the immigration centre may ask you to pay more cash in return for your documents.

Tip 3 – Make Sure That The Immigration Consultancy Has In-Depth Knowledge

Front view of stacked books and ladders

Ensure that the immigration consultancy has proper knowledge about the visa application procedure. This will guarantee that your application doesn’t get rejected due to trivial reasons like inaccurate and incomplete information in the application form.

The immigration consultant can assist you in compiling the required paperwork, filing the necessary forms, and representing you in meetings with government representatives, provided they have complete knowledge. This is important as this increases your chances of getting your visa ready.

You can verify this by asking all the questions that you have on your mind. You can address your queries like how to get a uk work visa from India, what documents are required for uk visa, what are the uk visa requirements, etc. This will assist you in making a decision on whether or not you should proceed with this immigration consultancy.

Tip 4 – Go Through Online Reviews

The best place to start is by looking into their online review. A quick search on the internet will save you from any further headaches. Make sure that they have at least an average rating. Read through all the reviews available online and client testimonials.

A legitimate immigration consultancy will have all the necessary information available online. This will also give you a clear idea about their experience and success rate.

Additionally, read through the articles that have been published on the immigration agent’s website to gain a better idea of their corporate objectives and core beliefs.

Tip 5 – Check For The Cancellation And Refund Policy Of The Consultancy

This is highly unlikely to happen if you are working with the right UK Work permit consultants in Hyderabad,  Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. However, in case your visa application gets rejected, make sure that your immigration consultancy will provide you with a refund. Make sure that you check for this before making any payment in a rush.

You can avail of all this information on their official website. Various companies have different refund policies. Ensure to choose as per your requirements and preferences.

Make sure to take all these factors into consideration before hiring a consultancy. Hopefully, this article has provided you with information about all the important things that you need to consider.

It is a different type of visa that can be availed by businessmen who have an innovative business idea yet to be executed by anyone else. The first and foremost condition for applying for this visa is that the idea needs to be completely new and different from other businesses.

The success and the refusal rate of this visa is about 85% and 15%, respectively, indicating that the visa program is beneficial, thus, having a better chance of being accepted.

The UK Innovator Visa Program Is Subjected To Certain Conditions:

    going through conditions
    1. You wish to set up a new innovative business:

Plain and simple, the first category is for anyone and everyone around the globe. If you have a good idea and can prove that it has not been implemented by anyone else, you can easily apply for the Innovator program of the UK visa process.

You will need to prove your identity and financial stability just like the other UK work visa requirements, but the primary goal is to get your idea accepted and approved.

    1. You have an endorsement for your idea:

If your business idea has been endorsed by a viable and registered endorsing body in the UK, on that basis, you can apply for an innovator program. There is a list of organizations that can provide endorsements on the UK government’s website where you can search  whether  your endorsing organization is there on the list. If so, you will be eligible to apply for this visa.

Once your idea has been proven unique and your endorsement is approved, you can easily get through the UK visa applications. However, if, due to some reason, your endorsing body withdraws its endorsement, you will have to apply for another endorsement before your current visa limit expires.

How Do I Know If I Am Eligible For The Innovator Visa?

Primarily, there are 3 main eligibility criteria for the innovator visa of the UK. Further instructions will be provided once you apply. You will also be notified if you need an appointment.

    • You must have a good command and fluency in the English language.
    • You can prove your English fluency by securing a B2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference of Languages [CEFR] scale. Also, you can prove that your qualification degree is equivalent to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the UK.

If you do not fit these criteria, you may want to explore other ways in order to apply for a UK visa.

How Do I Apply For The Visa When Eligible?

If you fit the eligibility criteria, here is how you can apply for the innovator visa:

    • First, you will have to apply online. The process and documentation thus required, depends on from where you are applying.
    1. Application from outside the UK to set up a business:

In this case, you will have to prove your identity through documentation. Further requisites will be provided after your application.

    1. Application for the extension of the current visa:

If your business is established, running and has been endorsed earlier, you can apply for an extension. Also, you can apply if you have a different business and your endorsing body approves of  it. Your spouse and children will need to apply differently.

    1. Application  to switch from one type to another type of visa.

[Ex. Switching from UK tier 2 visa to innovator visa.]: If you fit the eligibility criteria for the innovator visa, you can apply to switch your visa type.

    • You can include your spouse or children to stay with you. The process for their application is also mentioned on the website of the UK government. You can also consult any UK visa services to provide you with the  information regarding the process.

How Long Does An Application Take To Process?

Once your identity is proved and your documents are approved, you will get the decision within 3 weeks if you live outside the UK, and around 8 weeks if you live in the UK.

How Much Does It Cost To Apply For An Innovator Visa?

Just like the innovator of the UK visa application process, the charge of this process also depends on where you are applying from i.e., whether you are going to the UK for the first time, or  you are applying for an extension or switch.

    • If you are applying from outside the UK, your charges would be £1,036.
    • If your family is applying with you, the charge is  £1,036 for each member.
    • If you are applying for a switch or extension, your charges would be £1,292.
    • If your family wishes to apply too, the charges will be £1,292 for each person.

Collaborate With Professions To Get Your Application Approved

If your visa application is accepted, you can stay for a period of 3 years. However, if you want to stay back, you will have to apply for an extension before your current visa expires.

There is no limit to the number of times an extension can be requested.

Any other information required will be provided when you apply for the innovator visa. If you do not qualify for the innovator visa, you can always apply for different UK visa types.

A majority of the population that migrates from India to the UK for job purposes, chooses to stay there, and settle as a citizen. This is usually due to extended job offers. New opportunities for establishing independent businesses can also be another reason.

Can I Become A Resident In The UK ?

Absolutely! There are many people who choose to stay in the country.  Foreigners are allowed to become residents under various circumstances which we will be discussing in the next section.

If you too want to become a permanent resident of the United Kingdom, here is a quick guide to becoming a resident in the UK. As we proceed along, we will look at ways of settling permanently in the UK.

How To Become A Permanent Resident In The UK?

There are various other ways that one can permanently shift to the UK apart from the UK work permit visa. Here are some ways you can apply for citizenship in the United Kingdom:

    • Having an ILR [indefinite leave to remain] or ILE [indefinite leave to enter]:

ILR is issued by the UK home office to the people who wish to remain in the country for a long duration of time due to various reasons. If you have an indefinite leave to remain in the UK, it means that there is no time limit to how long you can stay there. You can use your ILR to apply for UK citizenship.

The ILR is also called a settlement since once you have an ILR, your status is changed to settled in the UK once you have it. There are several ways one can apply for an ILR:

    1. If you work in the UK. You should have been working in the UK for 5 years. This criterion depends on what type of work visa you have. For example, a tier 1 visa requires 2-3 years of residence and employment in the UK
    2. If you have family members who are British citizens or already have an ILR. Your process and criteria of application depend on how the said member is living. If you have had a settled status or an ILR for 12 months or more, you can easily apply for UK citizenship. There are some other requirements for which you can consult the concerned authorities via various online as well as offline mediums.
    • You were born in the UK:

Although being born in the UK does not automatically make you a citizen, you can apply for citizenship in the UK under the following circumstances:

    1. If you were born after 1st January 1983.
    2. You are still under 18.
    3. If you lived in the UK until 10 years of age and above.

Now, let us say that one of your parents had a “settled” status or was a British citizen when you were born. And you were also born in the UK after 1st January 1983, you need not apply for citizenship. However, you may want to ask for a confirmation of citizenship or get a UK passport instead.

    • You are married to someone eligible to stay and settle:
Couple hugging and laughing near the wall

If your spouse is a current citizen of the UK or has an Indefinite Leave to Remain you can apply by naturalisation under any of these conditions:

    1. You have also lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years or above.
    2. You have an indefinite leave to remain.
    3. You have settled status.
    • One of your parents is a citizen:

Naturally, if your parents or one of your parents is a citizen of the UK or has an indefinite leave to remain, you can apply for citizenship. It also makes getting citizenship easier for the other parent.

Yet, it depends on where and when you were born. If you fit the above criteria, you can apply for UK citizenship easily and can settle in the country. Apart from these, there are some ways through which you can settle in the UK permanently. All the procedures for these applications and the eligibility for them are mentioned on the website of the UK government.

Applicants can apply for the procedure according to the stated guideline. But it is important to consider that, due to COVID-19, the applications may take longer to process than usual. However, this delay does not have any effect on the decision-making. Now that you are aware of the process of applying for citizenship in the UK, here are some reasons why you should consider moving to the UK.

Benefits Of Moving To The UK:

    1. To settle in the UK, one does not need to learn any new language. English is a language spoken in every part of the world. Hence, we find it easier to settle there.
    1. The industrial and economic growth of the UK has been significantly rising in the past few years. Especially around big centres of trade like London, Edinburgh, Peterborough, Oxford, Birmingham, etc., the growth of the economy is highly accelerated.
    1. The UK is all about trying something new. Newer professions, better ways and scope for development make it a hot spot for employment opportunities.
    1. The labour laws of the country are very favourable and hence make it an even better place for business.
    1. The UK is home to the world’s best colleges and universities. Which makes the country a great combination of quality education and job opportunities.

These colleges usually have placement programs due to which the students decide to stay in the country and settle.

    1. The jobs pay very well. The maximum working hours on average are limited to 48 hours per week. The minimum wage for workers in the age category of 23 and above is £9.50 per hour.

Have you finally got an Irish work permit after months of hard work? Are you looking to expand your professional horizons further and work in the UK instead? Well, although it is no cup of tea to relocate to the UK, one surely can not do so on an Irish work permit. The process of getting the right to work in the UK is completely different and tedious.

The primary fact here is that if you have a work permit, that does not mean you are considered an Irish citizen. Thus, by consequence, you also can not exercise the same rights as an Irish citizen.

Let us now identify the fundamental aspects to debunk the question effectively.

Can I Work In The UK Legally With An Irish Work Permit?

The fundamental and straightforward answer to this question is, in fact, “No”. To explain this better, let us refresh our knowledge of the implications of the Common Travel Area (CTA) arrangement.

This is an arrangement between Ireland and the UK that enables Irish citizens and citizens of the UK to freely move, reside or work in either of the countries. The emphasis here is on the word ‘citizen’.

If you need a work permit to work in Ireland, this means that you do not count as an Irish or UK national. This implies that the work permit that you got from the Irish government is not accepted by the UK government. You will need to fill out the UK visa application if you want to work in the UK in that case.

Why Can You Not Work In The UK With An Irish Work Permit?

In some scenarios, you will require a proper UK skilled worker visa, whereas, in some scenarios, you will be able to enter the UK on an entry clearance visa before leaving the country.

Your existing Irish work permit may prove to be beneficial in your visa application. However, it is not recognised by the UK as a valid travel document or work permit. Since there are proper border controls in place, you have to be very careful and understand the boundaries of your permit.

In short, since these are two completely different nations, the permission to work in these two places must also be obtained in different manners. Someone’s Irish work permit is not a path to work legally in the United Kingdom.

What Rights Do Irish Citizens Enjoy Under The CTA?

As mentioned before, Irish citizens enjoy a multitude of rights under the Common Travel Area arrangement. These rights for Irish citizens include:

    • Access to social benefits
    • Access to healthcare
    • Access to social housing supports
    • The right to vote in certain elections

The most important, however, that is not mentioned above is that Irish citizens can not only travel freely between the UK and their country, but they can also work and live in any country of the two that they wish to. This also means that they may wish to work in one country and reside in the other.

On goods and customs, however, these rights do not apply exactly and are different.

    Obtaining An Irish Work Permit

Since Ireland is a part of the EU, EU/Swiss/EEA nationals may choose to take up employment or live in any part of the country without going through any lengthy legal process.

However, if you are not a citizen of the above-mentioned nationalities, you will have to obtain a work permit to work in the country. You can either go through the application process alone or choose to consult a visa agency. To be eligible for such a permit, you will require:

    • You must be offered a job by an Irish-based company.
    • Depending on what permit you are applying for, you must meet the minimum salary threshold.
    • The employees of the company that you will be working in must compromise 50% of an EU/EEA/Swiss national.

Some of the documents that you will be asked to present when applying for an Ireland work permit are:

    • A copy of your passport
    • A passport-sized picture
    • Details of your employment
    • Details of someone to contact
    • Relevant registration/pin or license number of the company
    • A copy of the work contract
    • Proof of funds
    • Evidence of accommodation

    Obtaining A UK Work Permit

Since it has already been established that you cannot legally work in the UK on an Irish work permit, it is also evident that you will need to obtain a UK work permit. The rules to be eligible for a UK work permit are quite different yet similar to an Irish work permit.

If you are applying for a job that comes under the skilled worker category, you are eligible to apply for the UK tier-2 general visa, which has now been changed to the UK work visa. The UK work visa requirements are as follows:

    • A sponsorship certificate from a UK employer with a valid sponsorship license
    • To meet the minimum salary threshold, depending on your occupation and experience in the profession.
    • To meet the minimum English language requirements. The minimum IELTS score for a UK work visa is a CEFR score of B1.

How To Apply For A UK Work Permit?

Since the UK visa process can be quite lengthy and confusing, it may be a good idea to consult any agency and get their UK visa services.

However, in general, you will need to go through the following steps to obtain oh a for the UK.

    • Identify the kind of visa you need
    • Fill out the online application form
    • Collect the documents required for a UK visa
    • Schedule an appointment and give the visa interview
    • Have patience and wait for the results!

Hire Professional UK Visa Consultant To Avoid Any Kind Of Confusion!

The bottom line is that your Irish work permit is not valid in the UK, and you will be required to obtain a work visa for the UK unless you are an Irish or UK national already. Hire a professional visa consultant like Work Permitz to apply for a UK work permit if you wish to work and settle in the United Kingdom.

The UK has been a popular destination among expatriates in the present day as the nation and its economy continues to grow. The opportunities present in the UK are endless.

Therefore, an immediate surge in the process of the UK visa application has increased significantly in the recent past.

However, moving to the UK is not possible for everybody. It is a well-known fact that the UK is one of the most expensive global destinations in the world out there. Thus, aspiring immigrants must take into consideration various expenses and charges of UK visa application to successfully move to the country.

Here we will debunk various expenses that must be acknowledged to apply for a UK visa. Before getting into the discussion, let us identify the different types of visa that are available.

    Types of work visas

There are several routes to getting permission to legally work in the UK. Depending on your professional, working hours per week and the salary bracket you fall under, there are several kinds of work visas you may avail of. Some of these are:

    • Skilled worker visa
    • Health and Care Worker visa
    • Seasonal Worker visa (Temporary Work)
    • Youth Mobility Scheme visa
    • Graduate visa

What is the application fee for a UK work visa?

There are two possible scenarios in this regard as well. The first is that your employer may be able to provide you with the necessary support. In this scenario, they will need to mention this fact on the sponsorship certificate that they will give you under the additional information section.

The other scenario is the contrary, when they will not be able to give you the required support. In this case, the costs of applying for a UK visa can be quite hefty. When applying for a UK skilled worker visa, you will need to have the following funds:

    • Paying the application fee is a necessity. Depending on your circumstances, these fees may change. However, the standard ranges from £625 to £1423.
    • On top of that, you will need to pay an obligatory healthcare charge, which stands at an annual cost of £624.
    • Furthermore, you will need to be able to show that you have enough funds in your bank account to support yourself while living in the UK. This will usually amount to £1270

Moreover, if you are on the shortage occupations list, you will need to pay a much less amount than what is the norm.

How much are the application fees?

The standard fees, which are subject to change depending on your circumstances and where you are moving to in the UK, stand at:

    • £625 per person for a period of up to 3 years
    • £1235 per person for a period extending over 3 years.

The fees applicable for changing or amending your visa while you are already inside the UK stand at:

    • £719 per person for a period of up to 3 years
    • £1423 per person for a period extending over 3 years.

The charges specific to someone who falls in the shortage occupations list are:

    • £479 per person for a period of up to 3 years
    • £943 per person for a period extending over 3 years.

    Money to support yourself

You will be required to show that you have the minimum funds necessary to support yourself in the UK upon your arrival there.

You will need to have a minimum of £1270 in your bank account available for at least 28 continuous days, within 31 days of applying for a UK visa.

Most applicants will be required to show proof of this unless:

    • They have already been residing in the UK on a valid visa for at least 12 months.
    • Your employer is willing to cover your costs for the first month of your stay in the UK. The minimum amount for this maintenance support is equal to £1270.

How to obtain a skilled worker visa?

A UK skilled worker visa, formerly known as the UK tier II work visa, is what professionals taking up skilled occupations in the UK would apply for.

All skilled employees from a non-EU country would have to apply for this visa to get a UK work permit

As compared to the UK tier 2 general Visa, the skilled worker visa is accompanied by way fewer restrictions, making it comparatively easier to find employment through it.

You are eligible for such a visa if you meet the minimum salary threshold, have obtained a sponsorship license from a UK employer with a valid sponsorship license and meet the minimum IELTS score for the UK work visa

What are the required documents for the skilled worker visa?

The UK government is quite meticulous in its verification process through which it allows expatriates to gain access to a UK visa. Therefore, make sure to have updated documents at hand at all times, at any of your appointments or while filling their forms.

The documents that you will be required to present during the UK work visa process include:

    • Proof that you made the minimum English language requirements
    • A valid passport and any other legal verification that you possess
    • Your job title and annual salary
    • You are sponsorship certificate along with the reference number
    • The name of your employer and the sponsor license number
    • Your job’s occupation code
    • Evidence of funds
    • Any educational qualifications that you have

Some employers may also ask you to present certain documents specifically for the job. These include, but are not limited to, a criminal record certificate, health records, and other such documents.

What are their salary requirements to apply for a skilled worker visa?

    Man Comparing Two Coin Stacks

To apply for a skilled worker, you will also need to meet the minimum salary threshold, which varies depending on your occupation.

If you are applying for a position that falls under the skilled occupation list, you must avail of a sponsorship certificate from an employer who can provide minimum maintenance and meet certain points:

    • Those who are under the age of 26 or Hub completed a degree in the UK fall under the new entrant salary rate, which is £ 20,480 or 70% of the going rate for the job, whichever is higher.
    • Those who are over the age of 26 must be given a minimum salary of £ 25000 or the going rate of the job, whichever is higher.
    • Professionals in the medical field have a different norm altogether. This is because they fall under the NHS Band, which has different requirements. However, a minimum salary of £ 20,480 must still be provided.

How much does it cost to sponsor a person for a UK work visa?

It can be said with certainty that the fees involved in sponsoring someone for a UK work visa is not less. In fact, it can get quite costly to the point where many employers opt out of it altogether and choose to hire existing citizens. However, great dedication is also required on the part of the applicant, for they will have to bear even more hefty costs.

When an organisation applies for a work visa, the office will, usually, charge you with the following:

    • £536 for the organisations which are small or charitable.
    • £1,476 for large organisations.

Moreover, a charge of £199 is charged for issuing a sponsorship certificate to an employee. Taxes are also levied, making the total cost even higher. In this case, these taxes are referred to as the ‘Immigration Skills Charge’.

Hire professional UK visa consultants for better guidance!

Moving to the UK can be quite a tedious, long and expensive process. However, with the correct planning and guidance from a professional UK visa consultant like Work Permitz this can all be managed easily.

    ]]>
Whether you are an international student who has completed their education in the UK or a foreigner who is looking to get a job and move to the UK, getting a UK sponsorship visa can be extremely tough.

There is also a list 62,588 company names in the UK government’s website that are eligible to sponsor foreigners but that is of no help. The list does not even state what companies are actively sponsoring, so do not waste your time going through that.

Instead, read this blog till the end to understand how you can get a UK work visa through a sponsorship.

    What is Sponsorship?

Sponsorship is a certificate from an approved employer in the UK stating that they are providing you with a job along with information regarding the job. This certificate is called Certificate of Sponsorship [CoS]. It is one of the major requirements to get a work visa which in turn allows you to come to the UK and work there.

In simple words, the employer is sponsoring your entry into the UK. You cannot get a work visa without sponsorship from an eligible UK company.

An important requirement for getting a UK visa is that the salary offered should be above the minimum requirement for different kinds of jobs.

How to find companies that offer sponsorship?

Now that you have decided to move to the UK with a UK skilled worker visa, you will have to search for companies that could be your sponsor. Unfortunately, that is easier said than done. As mentioned above, there are 62,588 UK companies licensed to sponsor foreigners but how would you find the one that could sponsor you out of these many?

It is not possible to go through every company on the list, call every single employer and ask them about sponsorship. So what should you do? Here are some ways to find companies that would sponsor you:

    Job-finding websites and apps

Job-finding websites and apps are a great way of finding jobs almost anywhere. They act as a middleman between a company and the user looking for a job. LinkedIn, Indeed and Monster are some of the leading job-finding websites.

Here, you need to go to a job-finding site and search for all the jobs available in the UK. Filter down your search based on your area of work, location, salary, working hours and such. Now, you have all the jobs that suit you. But these sites do not have a filter for jobs that offer sponsorship.

So cross-check employers on the UK government’s licensed employer’s list with ctrl + f before applying.

    Tips to get the sponsorship

Helpful tips concept on business workplace

Landing jobs in the UK with visa sponsorship is easier said than done. The hiring process of most companies is very challenging to crack and the competition is fierce. Although there are almost 66,000 sponsorship licensed companies, only a limited number of them hire regularly. To help you stand out from the competition and get the job, the following are some tips:

    Start Early

We are not talking about the early 3 months. We are talking early in the year. If you want to start your job this time, next year, the time to start job-hunting is now. A lot of the leading companies in the UK start their hiring process a year before the actual work begins.

Also, starting early gives you an advantage as a lot of the jobs are still available in the job market, increasing your chances of landing one.

    Get it Clear

Before you go through all the efforts of making the perfect application for a UK company, give them a call. There might be a chance that even though they are licensed to provide sponsorships, they are not interested in them at the moment.

So, call them and enquire about sponsorship and all the other details before making an application.

    Think Big

When looking to get a sponsorship, you should only have eyes for the big firms. The smaller ones do not have a big budget to sponsor foreigners. On the other hand, big firms will have enough budget to sponsor foreigners to help you get a UK job visa.

The chances of getting sponsorships from global companies in the UK are pretty high considering these companies are always looking for diversity.

    Target

This tip will save you lots of time and effort. Before you apply for a job in too many companies, you should consider setting a target for the kind of companies where your chances of getting recruited are the highest.

For example, if you have the relevant skills you should target companies that provide professional services to their clients like banks, schools, law firms and such. Your chances of getting into them are higher than other companies.

    Uniqueness

This goes without saying that your application must stand out from the crowd for you to get the job. You should make a perfectly tailored application for the jobs you are applying to instead of sending the same application to everyone. Also do not forget to highlight the fact that you are multilingual and if you have experience with other cultures, show that too.

Sometimes, you should leave things to the experts. When it comes to getting a visa, the tiniest mistake could lead to the rejection of your application and you will have to do the process all over again.

So, people usually hire UK visa consultants, immigration lawyers and other third parties to tide you over.

While not every one of these third parties provides this service, a lot of them do. Some agencies will even hook you up with one of their dedicated job search consultants to help you land the job that will in turn help you land in the UK.

    Get professional help

That was everything you needed to know on how to get a UK work visa from India. To get the worker’s visa, you will need a Certificate of Sponsorship from approved UK companies. You should follow the tips given here to find and land the perfect job in the UK.

The UK is a land of rich history and architectural beauty. People from round the globe visit this great nation every year as a tourist to witness the aurora of this country. To visit the UK, you need a tourist visa. Without this visa, you will not be allowed to enter the country.

    What is a tourist visa?

If you are visiting the UK for touring purposes, you need a tourist visa to enter the country. The tourist visa is a temporary visa which allows you to reside in the country for a limited timeframe. Once this time/date expires, you need to leave the country. Hence, with a tourist visa you can only visit the country, but you will not be able to enjoy the benefits of a UK work visa holder or a permanent resident visa holder.

Can you work in the UK on a tourist visa?

But if you are wondering if it is possible to work in the UK while you are on a tourist visa the answer is NO!

In a nutshell, one of the things you cannot do on a standard visitor visa is to engage in any paid or unpaid work with UK companies during your stay. It is prohibited by the law.

However, you can get a work permit to work legally in the UK. This work visa is called a Skilled Worker Visa. It has replaced the UK tier 2 visa.

What is a UK work visa?

With a UK tier 2 visa, you can come or stay in the UK to work in a qualified job provided to you by an approved employer.

Following is everything you need to know about the Skilled Worker Visa.

    Eligibility Requirements

To apply yourself for a UK skilled worker visa, you need to pass the eligibility criteria. They are:

    • You must only work for a UK employer that has been permitted by the Home Office.
    • Your job must be on the list of all the eligible professions.
    • You must get a minimum salary depending on your working field.
    • You must possess a certificate of sponsorship provided by your employer with information about your job role.
    • You must be able to speak, write and understand English [you may be asked to prove your English knowledge skills]

These are the general eligibility criteria. You have to pass through more such regarding the specific field of your job.

Aside from these, there are several other requirements. They are:

    • You must score a minimum of 70 points in the immigration point system
    • You need to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • You must have at least 2 years of experience in the list of eligible occupations
    • Your salary should meet the minimum requirement of 25,600 pounds
    • Your job must be at the skill level of RQF 3 or over.

What can you do on a skilled worker visa

    People working at office

There are some leverages you get as a skilled worker in the UK. Following are the things you can do while on a skilled worker visa the UK:

    • Work in the job you are assigned
    • Study based on your interests
    • Bring your partner and/or children as your dependents in the UK if they pass the eligibility criteria
    • Voluntary work
    • Take a second job under special conditions
    • Apply for permanent residency if you have lived in the UK for at least 5 years
    • Travel out of the country and return back

What you cannot do on a skilled worker visa

On this visa, your actions are restricted as well. There are certain things you can not do on a work visa. They are:

    • Change jobs or employer [you will have to apply to update your visa in this condition]
    • Apply for the majority of the benefits available to the UK public
    • Apply for state pension

    How long can you stay?

A UK work visa does not allow you to stay for an indefinite period. This visa is active for up to 5 years. You will need to extend or update it under two conditions:

    • If it has expired [meaning you have spent 5 years in the UK]
    • If you decide to change jobs or employer

However, if you are eligible, you can apply to settle in the UK permanently after 5 years. This permanent residency gives you the right to stay, work and study here for as long as you want.

    The New Immigration Point System

The immigration point system was changed, and the new one has been in action since January 2021. This is a point-based eligibility criterion where applicants have to gain a minimum number of points to get a UK visa.

To qualify for the skilled worker visa, you need to gain at least 70 points. In this scheme of things, if you have a qualified job from an approved employer, you have already earned 50 points.

There are several ways to gain the last 20 points. They are:

    • Having a relevant PhD wins you 10 points
    • PhD in STEM [science, technology, engineering, math] awards you 20 points
    • Some jobs, for example, jobs in health and education, earn you 20 points
    • If your job falls under the shortage occupation, you get 20 points.

    Application Fees

Fees word is written on wooden cubes

Application fees for people living outside the UK are as follows:

    • 625 pounds per person for up to 3 years
    • 1235 pounds per person for more than 3 years

Application fees for people living in the UK desiring to update, switch or extend their visa will be:

    • 719 pounds per person for up to 3 years
    • 1423 pounds per person for over 3 years

If your job falls under the category of shortage occupation list, the application fees would be as follows [for people both outside and inside the UK]:

    • 479 pounds per person for up to 3 years
    • 943 pounds per person for over 3 years

    Documents required

To apply for the skilled worker visa, you will need the following documents:

    • The reference number of your certificate of sponsorship
    • A valid passport with a blank page for this visa
    • Your job label and salary package
    • Job occupation code
